Saskatoon Photography ~ Family

Well we have returned from taking photos of Niagara and back to taking photos of families. And wasn't this little 5 yr old a whole lot of fun.
His expressions were priceless!
Here he is showing me what Mom and Dad are doing.
I just cracked up ~ honestly he was so entertaining.

Caught him still here for a nanosecond. :)

Chased him all over the climbing structure for this shot.
 Adorable.

And there are a whole lot more being uploaded to the web site as I type. Private Gallery is HERE. Sorry password protected but easy to guess for family and friends.

Stay tuned. I did an engagement shoot this morning and will hopefully be able to show you a few by tomorrow night. :)

Another busy day.

Oh boy these holidays are filled with activity. I return to work tomorrow. I know it will be busy, but I can at least keep some sense of order on my desk.

David was up very early this am to get the last of the dragonflies off the grill. 2000 km means a lot of dragonflies.

Then the gang settled in for the Riders game. Wasn't that an exciting game? The game aint over til it's over - especially with the Riders. How many times can you mess up a sure thing.
Then it was Too Tall Trifle cake to celebrate Mark's birthday. The whole gang sang happy birthday. (imagine three more shy people behind the camera).

Count Your Blessings

And I have plenty of blessings.
Used up stash from about five different companies today trying to get another wedding page done.
Love this family picture. We are getting so big and now with grand baby Tanis, even bigger. Can't wait to have them all together at Christmas.

Parents of the bride and groom. Very proud parents. Very blessed couple. We start and end with family!

digital madness ...

Brothers, "they ROCK"! The boys toasting their sister the bride.
Man, they are good looking dudes!

Enjoy Montreal and that we did - oh the food! Oh the love! Oh the wonderful moments!

Having a blast with digital! Fast! Creative! Fun!
Discovered they print out beautifully at Costco - $2.50

US together

Got a page done a few weeks back from the family shoot with Melina. I kind of like it. I just have to find some time to get a few more pages done and finish off the year 2002 before those wedding photos arrive.
Haven't done any scrapbooking since this page ...but the whole second floor of the house is painted, carpets washed and new blinds installed.
Will it really be July next week????

Family Photos

Whenever I am blessed to have all my children in one place, I book Melina Perron for a family photo shoot.  Melina always comes up with fun relaxing photos that leave us with wonderful memories. We met up at the Western Development Museum for some pictures.

Love this photo!! This one gets blown up and framed and added to the family gallery.

We are a growing gang and with Paul and Allie's little one on the way too we will be nine for Christmas. And they will all be home... I need to book Melina again.

Mark my firefighter paramedic.

The very happy couple who were willing to hang out with family less then 48 hrs after becoming man and wife.

The love of my life!

Havin' fun!

After the photo shoot we went to Montanas and wrote all over the paper table cloths - 'hangman' ya know - kind of a family tradition. So much so that if David and I  go to Montanas with friends we make them play hangman!

Then over the next week all my sweet kids slowly went back home and it got very quiet around here.....  I am kind of liking it..... a lot!

5 Min chocolate cake? For Real!!

I saw this recipe for chocolate cake cooked in a mug in the microwave on Kate's blog and thought...can this be so????! But Kate said it worked so.....I thought I will have to try it.

And the very next day we had guests for supper. Can I call my daughtrs fiance a guest anymore? I make him set the table now!!! And our good friend Ken the bachelor who needs to be fed now and then...well okay Ken is not lacking in the food dept - just the HOMEMADE food dept. Seriously, Ken, you are just fun to have over!!

So, after a stop at Cosco for the first time in 10 years (except to get my new glasses which is why I renewed my membership) I came home with $349 worth of stuff - BIG stuff. Dear husband reminded me of why I did not renew my membership 10 years ago. A whole other Blog item!!
I digress!
You would think I would have thought of something for dessert but the bulk buying kind of distracted me.
Dinner was delicious.....fabulous!

After supper the guys settle in for a little hockey (the sit on the couch kind), but dear husband was craving something sweet (and not his wife at this particular moment)

He discovers that the chocolate covered almonds secretly stashed are gone from the bottom drawer of the dining room buffet - my fault! Dear daughter points out his upset mood at this discovery which really means "MOM where did the choc covered almonds go?"

Some hiding place eh? The whole world now knows where they are - or were.

So I get on the computer and download this recipe from Kates blog.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Wonderful with vanilla ice Cream! The recipe is now in the kitchen basket of fav's!
I followed it to the "T" - okay I added a little more chocolate chips - because!

And no, I did not eat the chocolate covered almonds -  I have a dress to fit into in three weeks remember? The chocolate covered almonds are, as I type, on a greyhound bus on their way to Thompson, Manitoba because what mother sends a package to her son and doesn't include some chocolate treats!!! I mean really!

The rest of the family will just have to get over it....and the chocolate in a mug I think softened the blow!

This is a must try treat.
And you MUST let me know if you try it!!

Blessings to y'all!

Is it 2009?? ...remembering...

I am feeling a little bit older today. So I am going to share of picture of me from way back when that makes me feel so wonderful. It reminds me of those long, busy, tiring, activity filled days that I absolutely loved so much!!!

This is me with my precious gifts from above, taken at the museum in Victoria on my birthday in March 1993. I am 36 yrs old in this picture..just a kid!!

Could I love four people any more? Aren't they just all so sweet?

Oh what fun filled, happy days of adventure and learning.

God is so good to us!

Hills? In Saskatchewan?

Another layout from the year 2002...plodding along. Kind of busy - but then that WAS our lives back then. Just one family activity after another and I wouldn't change it for the world. THIS is why you need to have your children in your early twenties - because you need the energy to pull them up a hill on a toboggan!! That after getting up at 6 am to prepare all the food you have to take along to this event, get them all dressed for church, fed and in the car with all their tobogganing gear and out the door for the 1 hr drive to church being sure to arrive in time to greet the saints and settle everyone in before church begins. Did someone (Mom) fill the car with gas?
HOW did we do it??
Then pull them up the hill on the toboggan?
Visit all afternoon, collect all the containers you brought, gather all the sleds and extra mittens. then round up four children and make the drive home. Yeah - you have to be under 35 to do this.

The title says "Finding a Hill in Saskatchewan....No small feat"

I scanned this page for the blog and it was set on B&W and I actually liked how it turned out. It is inspiring me to actually scrapbook B&W photos on a B&W paper with all B&W embellishments.

Journalling reads....
When the church family planned a tobogganing/wiener roast at the Barbers farm, we wondered how we would toboggan on the flat prairies. We are, after all, a family who had recently skied “The Peak” at Grouse Mountain.

Well we did toboggan and it was more of a slope than a hill, but we found out that you don’t need a big, long, fast hill to have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs! The date? I THINK it is February of 2002

Great Canadian Melting Pot

I have had this photo of the Cortens side of the family on my desk for a while now. Another family picture I would title FAMILY - boring. So it sat. This morning I visited Got Mojo for their most recent challenge - and bingo there it was. Thanks for the advice April.
Was this family not a perfect example of the great Canadian Melting Pot?
From Ukrainian and Polish immigrants melded with Dutch/British immigrants married to every other nationality - well this is truly the Canadian melting Pot - and it is great!

Part of the challenge was to use glitter. Paper from Best Creations of a glittery world was waiting for a vacation photo - nope! Cause right there in the bottom left hand corner on this glittery map of western Canada was Kenora Ontario where this picture was taken - on Coney Island, in Lake of the Woods. Some fun rub on letters from Scrapworks and Me and My Big Ideas, some heidi swapp and thickers chipboard letters and some Creative Imaginations rub ons. And Prima overlay and flowers...what would we do without Prima!
So here ya go!

Family Fun

You would think all we do at our house is sit around the table and eat while Mom takes pictures of everyone. You know there are not a lot of pictures of me in 2001! Or any year for that matter. But I suppose enough pictures that they know I was here....taking a lot of pictures.

Who takes the pictures in your house?

Family

Together time. Journalling reads...
These photos were taken in the fall of 2001 – I think. At least the pictures, when I came across them, were in with the rest of the 2001 photos and it looks like fall. I DO remember that this was our outing to get a family photo taken. The final photo now hangs in our front hall. We call ourselves the “Fong” family because the photographer put his signature on the bottom front corner of the photos. :) After our photo shoot, we went to the Park Town hotel for lunch. So it was a fun family outing and I am of course always happy anytime I have good photos of my kids.

New from Cloud 9.

Two new lines from Cloud line - Cocoa Mint and Cinnamon Stick - and they both work well together. I have used the paper and embellishments from both lines on these two layouts. Just couldn't wait to use this paper and all the fun stuff that goes with it.
